The Langlois family business was successfully started by Jeff’s grandparents Les and Bertha Langlois at the urging of their son, Dr. Leslie Langlois, M.D. As a child, Dr. Langlois suffered from many health problems and encouraged his parents to open a health food store, because it was the "thing of the future."

Beginning at an early age, Jeffrey Langlois also developed many health problems. After he graduated from UW – Madison in 1982, Jeffrey purchased the store from his aunt (Marcie Langlois), in hopes of improving his own health which had further deteriorated. Modern medicine proved to be of no help to him, so he began taking classes and doing lots of research. After improving his own health, his passion became to share his knowledge with others.*
